Ratooning was the bad practice in the Chamarajanagar District. This is almost completely eradicated through training programmes and advertisements. This achievement is in collaboration with Department of Agriculture. Cotton crop is recommended for black soil but farmers were growing in red soil also. In such situation, KVK has given publicity through training programmes, demonstrations and advertisement about the alternative crop to cotton. Now cotton growing area in red soil is replaced by sunflower, groundnut and red gram.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra found the suitable cotton hybrid DHB-105 for Chamarajanagar district for rainfed situation by front line demonstration. The DHB-105 hybrid recorded the yield of 17.50 q / ha under rainfed situation.
