      The meeting was started with welcome speech by Dr. C. Doreswamy, Training Organiser, K.V.K, Chamarajanagar. The meeting was presided by Dr. G. Eshwarappa, Director of Extension. UAS, Bangalore.

      The Training Organiser presented the Action taken on the suggestions made in the first Scientific Advisory Committee meeting and also presented the programmes taken from June-2005 to December-2006 and programmes to be taken for period of January-2007 to June-2007.

      The Committee has approved the work done during June-2005 to December -2006 with following suggestions.


  1. The compost produced in the farm should be for farm use only and not for sale purpose. (Suggested by: Director of Extension)
  2. Collect the soil samples from demonstration plots and analyze for micronutrients. (Suggested by: Director of Extension and Dr. Chandregowda, Senior Scientist)
  3. Transfer of technologies related to sericulture should be taken in collaboration with central silk board. (Suggested by: Director of Extension)
  4. It is suggested to conduct the programmes on Home Science in collaborates with UAS, Bangalore. (Suggested by: Director of Extension)
  5. It is advice to establish shade nut to nurseries developed in the farm with in 3 months. (Suggested by: Director of Extension)
  6. Committee suggested to conduct on farm trial on mites in Coconut and give publicity. One OFT has to be implemented in the garden of Smt. Lokamath. (Suggested by: Director of Extension and Smt. Lokamath, Progressive farm women)
  7. All OFT`s and demonstrations are to be implemented in the presence of Scientists and should be in Road side. (Suggested by: Mr. Nasir Ahmed, Progressive farmer)
  8. Demonstration boards are to be installed for all OFT`s and demonstration plots. (Suggested by: Mr. Nasir Ahmed, Progressive farmer)
  9. Committee suggested to starting seed production activities in MR-6, NAH-2049 and CO-VC-2003-165 varieties. (Suggested by: Associate Director of Research)
  10. Committee suggested conducting trails on organic farming in some long duration and short duration crops. (Suggested by: Dr. Chandregowda, Senior Scientist)
  11. To conduct need based training programmes to the interested farmers for more than one day. (Suggested by: Director of Extension and Dr. Chandregowda, Senior Scientist)
  12. Committee suggested to give training to extension functionaries on the topic related to demonstrations and OFT`s. (Suggested by: Director of Extension)
  13. To give first priority to the ICAR mandates and publicity to the field days. (Suggested by: Dr. Chandregowda, Senior Scientist)
  14. To generate more income from farm. (Suggested by: Director of Extension)
  15. Take intercrop of pulses and green manure crops in coconut garden in the farm. (Suggested by: Associate Director of Research)
  16. Take FLD on Ragi (MR-6) in Kollegal and Chamarajanagar taluk and Sorghum in Gundlupet taluk. (Suggested by: Dr. Girish, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Kollegal)
  17. To give programmes on water saving technologies. (Suggested by: Smt. Lokamath, Progressive farm women)
  18. To conduct OFT on IPM in Onion. (Suggested by: Mr. Gopi Krishna, Assistant Horticulture Officer)
  19. To conduct training programmes on post harvest technologies. (Suggested by: Extension Co-ordinator)
  20. To Conduct Training Programmes on Bird scaring technology. (Suggested by: Associate Director of Research)
  21. Committee advised to adopt the drip irrigation system in Banana, Sugarcane and Mulberry in one acre each in farm. (Suggested by: Director of Extension)
  22. To conduct OFT in Ginger (Suggested by: Mr. Gopi Krishna, Assistant Horticulture Officer)
  23. To conduct FLD on Pomegranate crops. (Suggested by: Mr. Nasir Ahmed, Progressive farmer)
  24. Committee has suggested to conduct programmes on Integrated Farming System and to develop one IFS model and all animal & poultry unit in the farm. (Suggested by: Director of Extension)

     The Director of Extension has delivered the presidential speech and meeting was ended with vote of thanks by Dr. C. Doreswamy.
